The Hebron Harvest Fair, for example, is the third largest agricultural fair in the state, drawing over 250.000 visitors annually. The Hebron Maple Festival has received national acclaim in Yankee Magazine, and

Tax Incentive Program
Formulated by the HEDC, this plan offers tax abatements to encourage businesses to expand or move to Hebron. The plan follows state guidelines and allows businesses to qualify for a 2-year tax
abatement with a $500,000 investment, and a 7-year abatement with a $3 million investment. Companies must apply in advance, and must meet certain conditions,
such as be non-polluting with minimal impact on the town’s rural character. Likely candidates include corporate headquarters, corporate
satellite offices, campus-style office development, research and development facilities, light manufacturing and other multi-use facilities. The Board of
Selectmen has some flexibility in granting abatements on a case by case basis. Contact the Town Planner for details.

Pro-Active Economic Development Commission with a Business-Friendly Outlook
Some recent activities:
- Sponsored free seminars for Hebron businesses. Topics included local and regional resources, marketing, financing, and using the Internet.
- Commissioned Community 2000 Survey, the first of its kind for Hebron. Results showed most citizens favor balanced economic growth.
- Attended training seminars for EDC officials, such as those offered by the Connecticut Capital Region Growth Council to designate Hebron as a Business Ready community.
- Sponsored two-year photo/video archiving project to develop marketing tools such as a Web site, video and/or CD.
- Launched a Sister City project with Lac Brome (Knowlton), Quebec, to foster mutually beneficial exchange among municipal, educational, historic and business representatives.
- Obtained grants for feasibility studies on developing the Town Center, improving the Town Green, and building a business resource section at the library.
- Funded new topographical aerial survey map to facilitate planning and development.
- Built strong partnerships with local, regional and state development agencies and associations. Participated in local and statewide business expos to help market Hebron and the region.
- Developed Hebrons first tax abatement policy.
